Founded in Chicago in 1983 by brothers Jow and Frankie, American Pies was born from a passion for preserving the tradition of authentic deep-dish pizza.  Inspired by the classic recipe a golden, buttery crust, rich mozzarella, house-made sausage, and slow-simmered tomato sauce,they chose not to follow passing trends and instead stayed true to their roots. 
The visual identity of American Pies brings its bold personality to life through a direct, unapologetic, and character-driven aesthetic. It features a strong combination of typefaces: a bold all-caps sans serif for impactful messaging, and a classic serif to evoke heritage and depth. The brand also features playful,
 thick-line illustrations that depict everyday pizza-making scenes, humanizing the brand and celebrating the hands-on nature of their craft. These are paired with high-contrast black-and-white photography that captures raw, real moments in the kitchen —highlighting tradition, effort, and legacy. Handwritten names on packaging add a personalized and approachable touch, making each order feel like it was made just for you.
